Strong riding from UK Biking riders at the Glenn Longland 2 day event with a top 10 finish and 1st junior for Zak Snell.

Zak Snell and Luke Monahan put down some strong riding at the recent Glenn Longland 2 day event. The popular team event attracted some big hitters including elite rider, Matthew Downie. Held in the New Forest the first stage is a hill climb on the Saturday afternoon, followed by a 26 mile road race, and finishing with a 15 mile time trial on the Sunday morning.

Conditions were pretty wet and windy on the Saturday, which made for tough racing. On the hill climb, team tactics were the order of the day, where both Zak and Luke were seeded in the middle group based on their times. The miserable conditions meant times were down across the board on last year. The road race began steadily for Luke and Zak until a break from the scratch group (Downie, Hutchings and Elgie) came flying past half way. Zak was the only rider out of the other groups to take advantage of this and held on to the break. The 4 riders worked hard to stay out front and Zak took a very impressive 2nd just behind Matt Downie in the sprint, with Luke finishing with his group behind.

The TT was difficult as both Luke and Zak only had road bikes and clip on bars, but riders had decent performances. Zak managed 39:59 and Luke got 41:20. Both riders dropped down the order but Zak still finished 9th to stay in the top 10 overall and take 1st junior.

Well done to both riders putting in strong performances across the 3 stages!
