More races and more podiums for the team on the road, off-road and time trial scenes over the last two weeks!
Off-Road
The Southern XC was the big off road event recently for the team since the national series and there were more great result from the team on the day and for the series overall. Carol Tilley took 4th on the day and the series win overall; Roland Tilley took 6th in his category and 4th in the series; Richard Irvine didn't race but performed well enough throughout the series to take 3rd in the series for his category. But top results again go to Julia Hamlyn and Tony Revell who rode craking races on the day and were so consistent throughout the series! It was 1st for Julia in the vet ladies category and of course 1st overall in the series. Tony had another stonking ride to come 2nd elite and claim 2nd in the series. Great results for the team overall showing how consistent and dominant our off-road riders have been all year!
Roland and Carol Tilley were also racing the Omloop Van Dries Dorpen, a vet race near Rugby, recently. The course has gravel and farm tracks sections throughout each of the 6 laps with Roland finishing 2nd and Carol 5th (including the men).
Road
On the road Stephen Corbyn took on the Bourneville Holly Classic Sportive. Based on the Liege Bastogne Classic, it consists of 16 very steep climbs, averaging 11-17% over the 120km route. Stephen was 8th rider, which was a great result, considering he had some health issues on the bike the previous day at another event.
Bob Ford continued his podium streak in the Le Col series with 2nd in his category at the Eagle RC crit race at the Lea Valley Velo Park. A great result for Bob, which keeps him 2nd overall in the series.
Finally on the road, Jamie Whitcher, was racing in Belgium in the youth tour for the European Youth Team 'Cannibal'. Jamie had some great results with 3rd in the stage 1 individual TT, 7th in the stage 2 54km road race after getting in an eight man break, and finished 22nd in the stage 3 54km hilly race in the main bunch. This gave Jamie 5th overall and 1st for his team and the polka dot jersey for good measure!
Time Trial
Last but not least, Jamie Whitcher, also won the Southern Youth Championship 10 mile TT. Jamie had a cracking race to be fastest rider by 50 seconds, finishing in a time of 21.24. Full results can be found here on the Local Riders Local races website.
