Three of our most consistent riders and prolific racers, Julia Hamlyn, Sam Humphrey and Tony Revell had top performances at the British Cycling off road national championships on Sunday.
Julia was 2nd in her category, only beaten by the reigning national champion. It was a tough race for Julia, who has had a cracking season to date with a podium finish in every race and most of those on the top step. It is great to have strong female riders on the team to show us how it's done and an inspiration to us all!
Sam hasn't had the ideal season so far. It was a good start to the year with podium finishes but he has had back and knee injuries to deal with mid season. But he has managed his injuries wisely, holding back on racing and getting himself back in form for the national champs. Sam went hard from the start and continued to push despite limited training to get himself on the podium in 3rd place. A great performance, especially in Sam's circumstances.
Last but not least, Tony, had an incredible 7th place finish in the elite category. Not one to shy away from challenging himself, Tony pretty much won everything he raced in the expert category last year and has made the jump to elite racing to see what he can do. Tony has been pushing himself all season and to come away with 7th elite at the national champs is a huge achievement and testament to all the hard work put in!
These results and all the other off road results the team has achieved this year so far shows just how strong the team is locally and nationally when it comes to off road riding. Great work all!
All these great results are not possible without the fantastic support we get from our sponsors, Manuel Builders, Gibbs and Dandy Bournemouth, Hill & Son Ford Service, IW Price & Partners, AJN Electrical and in8 Creative Design. And of course our title sponsors Ford Civil Engineering, Vitec Ceilings and Partitions Ltd and Bournemouth Cycleworks, who provide many our riders top quality Trek speed machines and Bontrager equipment across all disciplines to race on.
